Obviously, since they're drawings, they're not entirely consistent anyway - for example, I've seen a couple of Gohan on Namek where he seems to come up closer to Goku's waist than the image I picked - but either way, it seems to indicate a subtle, if occasionally inconsistent, pointer towards gradual growth).
